4 bathroom sink styles – Pros and cons

How to choose the right bathroom sink for your bathroom remodel can sometimes be tough. With all the choices out there where do you start? Here are some pros and cons of the most popular bathroom sinks.

1. Drop in sink

Pros: cost, and cost to install are relatively inexpensive. Cons: most are very plain looking, cleaning can be an issue due to the lip flange and caulking, the faucet’s usually mount on the sink.

2. Under mount sinks

pros: most are inexpensive, easy to clean and maintain, modern and stylish look, comes in several different colors and shapes. Cons: Cost to install can range from $75.00 to 125.00 due to the granite cut and polish.

3. Vessel sinks

Pros: Modern looks, several different styles such as glass, natural stone, mosaic tile, stainless steel, and many more, Many different shapes and sizes, Cheap to install. Cons: Having to clean the outside of the bowel, Cost of the sink, Needs a special (taller) faucet in some cases.

4. Farmhouse sinks

Pros: Stylish looks, Cheaper to install than under mount sinks, Many different styles and colors. Cons: Could require special faucet, More cleaning due to size, Cost of the sink, Cabinet modifications.

When choosing the sink for your next bathroom remodel go with what makes the most sense for you. Think about what style you are going for in your bathroom and if possible don’t let budget be the only factor. If you shop around, you can find any of these sinks in your budget. The most important thing to remember is who you hire to do the work and if you’re handy you can install most of these sinks yourself.
