Ken Brennan

Ken Brennan is a seasoned trial lawyer with extensive experience in state and federal courts across the country.

His practice focuses on mass torts, motion practice, and appeals, with a particular emphasis on writing and arguing motions that shape the course of litigation.

Ken has successfully litigated complex legal issues in high-stakes cases, securing key victories for plaintiffs against some of the largest corporations in the world.

In addition to mass tort litigation, he has handled whistleblower suits and class actions, demonstrating his wide-ranging expertise in complex civil litigation.

His primary practice is representing people suffering injuries arising from pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and chemical exposures.

Professional Career

Ken began his legal career at a defense firm in St. Louis, Missouri, representing large corporations in litigation. After six years, he shifted his focus to fighting for individuals, leveraging his deep understanding of both sides of the courtroom to advocate for those injured through no fault of their own.

Before joining TorHoerman Law, Ken operated his own firm as a solo practitioner, further honing his litigation and appellate skills.

Ken has successfully litigated cases at the trial court level in Missouri, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Florida, California, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

He has extensive experience handling motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and Rule 702/Daubert motions, among others. His primary strength lies in crafting compelling legal arguments and advocating for clients through well-reasoned motions and appeals.

His appellate work includes briefing and arguing cases before the Second, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Eleventh U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal, as well as appellate courts in Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, and California.

His strategic approach to motion practice and appeals has resulted in key victories that have shaped legal precedent.

Outside of the courtroom, Ken is a dedicated father of three.

He and his family regularly explore national parks across the United States, enjoying hiking and the great outdoors. A proud University of Iowa graduate, Ken is an avid supporter of all things Hawkeyes.

  • Rinder v. Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp., 2019 IL App (1st) 171969 – Successfully argued and won an issue of first impression in Illinois regarding whether a state-law failure to warn claim issue is a question for the judge or jury.
  • Minor M.M. ex rel. Meyers v. GlaxoSmithKline LLC, 61 N.E.3d 1026 (Ill. App. 1st Dist. 2016) – Successfully argued and won an issue of first impression in Illinois regarding personal jurisdiction.
