Our firm is about people. That is our motto and that will always be our reality.
We do our best to get to know our clients, understand their situations, and get them the compensation they deserve.
At TorHoerman Law, we believe that if we continue to focus on the people that we represent, and continue to be true to the people that we are – justice will always be served.
Without our team, we would’nt be able to provide our clients with anything close to the level of service they receive when they work with us.
The TorHoerman Law Team commits to the sincere belief that those injured by the misconduct of others, especially large corporate profit mongers, deserve justice for their injuries.
Our team is what has made TorHoerman Law a very special place since 2009.
Tor Hoerman is the founder and owner of TorHoerman Law (THL), a nationally recognized personal injury firm that has recovered over $4 billion for clients across Illinois, Missouri, and Georgia. With more than 35 years of experience as a trial lawyer, Tor has built his career on one principle: “Our firm is about people.”
Tor grew up in the Chicago area. He attended high school in Lake Forest where he was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. He earned varsity letters in all three sports, received all-county recognition, and was named Booster Club Athlete of the Year as a senior.
Tor attended DePauw University, where he majored in Political Science and played collegiate athletics. He played both baseball and football and served as captain of the baseball team. He graduated from DePauw in 1991.
After earning his J.D. with honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1995, Tor spent years mastering the courtroom before founding THL in 2009. Since then, he has become one of the most formidable plaintiff’s attorneys in the country — taking on pharmaceutical giants, corporate defendants, and negligent manufacturers that others won’t dare challenge.

Tor’s landmark victories include a $495 million verdict against Abbott in a baby formula case, honored as the 2024 Verdict of the Year by Missouri Lawyers Media, serving as national lead counsel in the Pradaxa litigation ($650 million settlement), and lead counsel in the Actos litigation ($2.4 billion), one of the largest pharmaceutical settlements in U.S. history.
He was also the first attorney to file suit against Purdue Pharma over OxyContin, later collaborating with the Department of Justice to obtain guilty pleas from company executives.
A Top 25 Notable Alumni from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Tor is also recognized by Lawdragon as one of the 500 Leading Lawyers in America and honored by Chambers USA, two of the most prestigious distinctions in the legal profession.
He is further recognized as a Top 100 National Trial Lawyer and has been named to the Illinois Super Lawyers Top 100 list for 15 consecutive years.
Outside the courtroom, Tor is a proud husband and father of three.
