PALATINE, IL – A man required hospitalization this past Saturday following a single-vehicle crash along a major roadway in the northwest suburbs.

According to CBS News, the accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on East Dundee Road between US-12 and North Baldwin Road in the city of Palatine. This is about 35 miles northwest of Chicago.

Police say that the 21-year-old driver of Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and impacted with both a streetlight and a tree.

Medics transported the driver to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Officials closed East Dundee until around 10:30 a.m. while crews attended to the victim and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
