HINSDALE, IL – Two people were seriously injured Wednesday in a wrong-way collision that happened in west-central Cook County, reports Fox 32.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m., emergency teams responded to a two-vehicle crash on 55th Street near Barton Lane in the city of Hinsdale, which is approximately 20 miles southwest of Chicago.

Police say that for unknown reasons, an eastbound vehicle entered the westbound side of 55th and collided head on with a westbound car.

Both drivers were critically injured and required hospitalization.

The accident likely caused delays along 55th between County Line Road and the Tri-State Tollway while crews attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
