It's unclear if anyone sustained injuries in the fire

COOK CO., IL – Emergency teams responded to a semi-truck fire along the tollway in north-central Cook County on Thursday afternoon.

According to NBC 5 Chicago, the accident occurred some time around 4 p.m. near Dempster Street on the northbound side of the Tri-State Tollway, or I-294, and between Des Plaines and Park Ridge. This is about 20 miles northwest of Chicago.

It’s not yet clear what may have caused the 18-wheeler to catch fire, nor do we know if anyone in the truck sustained injuries.

Officials closed the Tri-State Tollway between Dempster and Touhy while crews attended to the fire and worked to clear the scene.
