A car hydroplanned and was then struck by a pickup truck, MSHP says

ST. LOUIS, MO – One person was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 270 South, north of Interstate 55, on Saturday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred before 1:30 p.m. and involved two vehicles — a 2008 Ford F450 pickup truck and a 2010 Jeep Patriot.

The Jeep driver, a 23-year-old man from Pacific, and the Ford driver, a 26-year-old man from Meridian, Mississippi, were going too fast for road conditions. The 23-year-old man reduced his speed for traffic congestion, and his car began hydroplaning and spinning out of control.

Subsequently, the Ford driver rear-ended the Jeep.

The Jeep driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital South by Mehlville Fire Protection District for treatment.
