Tailgating was a contributing factor in I-70 crash, MSHP says

ST. LOUIS, MO – A 60-year-old woman was injured in a rear-end crash that occurred on Interstate 70 West outside of the St. Louis International Airport on Wednesday.

Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash at 2:50 p.m., saying it happened east of James S. McDowell Boulevard. During traffic congestion, a 59-year-old woman, a St. Louis local, was tailgating a 2020 Ford Ecosport and crashed her 2022 RAM 1500 pickup truck into the back of it.

The Ford driver, a 60-year-old woman from Florissant, sustained minor injuries. Pattonville fire and EMS crews transported her to SSM Health DePaul Hospital for treatment.

The 59-year-old woman was uninjured.

MSHP confirmed both drivers wore seatbelts and were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
