Fatal collision occurred on MO-109 south of Niehoff Drive

EUREKA, MO – One person was killed, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash on MO 109, south of Niehoff Drive, reported after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 36-year-old man was driving north on the highway when he crossed over the double yellow line and crashed his 2010 Volkswagen Jetta into a southbound 2022 Chevrolet Express van.

The van driver, a 56-year-old man from High Ridge, told MSHP he swerved into the southbound shoulder to avoid a crash, but was unable to do so.

The impact of this serious crash led the 36-year-old man from Villa Ridge to die from his injuries, while the 56-year-old man survived and sustained moderate injuries.

Eureka fire and EMS crews transported the 56-year-old man to Mercy Hospital, St. Louis, for treatment.

MSHP is working to determine why the 36-year-old man crossed into the opposite lane of traffic.
