MSHP are working to determine the cause of the crash

ST. LOUIS, MO – One person’s life was claimed, and three others were injured in a collision at the intersection of westbound Interstate 70 and Branch Street on Monday, KSDK reports.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when a person driving a Honda Pilot had stopped suddenly in the far left lane. A driver of a Chevrolet Malibu saw the stopped Honda Pilot and pulled over into that same lane to help the Honda driver. Both drivers stood outside their vehicles when they were struck by a Volkswagen Jetta.

Prior to that collision, the driver of the Volkswagen also crashed into a Lexus GS300 car.

EMS crews transported all drivers and a fourth person to a hospital. There, the Honda driver died from their injuries.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police have not specified the cause of the crash or released the victim’s name.

Officials closed the intersection temporarily to accommodate the on-scene clean-up process and investigation before reopening it around 6 a.m.
