Vehicle Crossed Center Line Monday Night

FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO — A head-on crash Monday night killed three people from Hermann, including a 10-year-old girl, and injured another driver.

KMOV reports that the crash happened around 8:45 p.m. on Missouri 100 east of Dundee Road. Investigators said a 2011 Nissan Sentra was traveling east when it crossed the center line and struck a 2020 Ford Explorer.

After the collision, the Ford left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch.

Authorities identified the three occupants of the Nissan as Mike Elbert, 47, Rachel Elbert, 42, and the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, all of Hermann. Troopers said the adults died at the scene. Emergency crews took the girl to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where she later died.

The Ford’s driver, a 70-year-old woman from New Haven, suffered moderate injuries. Crews took her to Mercy Hospital in Washington for treatment.
