Failure to maintain lane leads to multi-vehicle collision in St. Charles Co.

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – Two adults and a teenager were transported to St. Louis and St. Charles County hospitals after a two-vehicle accident near Klondike Park Saturday.

Missouri State Highway Patrol was dispatched to Missouri 94 and arrived at the scene after 9:15 p.m. Troopers said the incident happened after a 25-year-old man, who drove a 2011 Hyundai Accent, failed to stay in his lane, which caused him to drift out of his eastbound lane and veer to the westbound lane. Moments later, he crashed into a 2014 Toyota RAV-4 driven by a 70-year-old woman.

St. Charles ambulance crews and Survival Flight SF161 were summoned to the scene. Medical helicopter personnel airlifted a 25-year-old man’s passenger — a 15-year-old boy — to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. St. Charles ambulance crews took the 25-year-old man to the same hospital as the teenager, while the 70-year-old woman was taken to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital St. Louis.

The elderly woman is recovering from minor injuries, while the 25-year-old man was left in moderate condition and the teen in serious condition.
