Mechanical failure was to blame in collision near MO 94, MSHP says

WELDON SPRING, MO – Two people were hospitalized following a two-truck crash that happened on Interstate 64 last Friday, May 29.

Missouri State Highway Patrol said the incident occurred before 9:30 a.m. east of MO 94. MSHP determined that a 54-year-old man driving a 2005 GMC C5 commercial truck experienced a brake failure, causing him to crash into the side of a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia.

Both trucks then crashed into the guardrail. The 54-year-old male driver, from St. Louis, and the Freightliner driver, a 65-year-old man from Grandview, suffered minor injuries.

Subsequently, medical personnel were called to the scene. St. Charles County EMS transported the 65-year-old man to Progress West Hospital, and Monarch EMS transported the 54-year-old man to the same hospital.

No citations have been reported.
