Police looking for driver of Audi coupe

ST. LOUIS, MO – Two people were injured yesterday when the driver of an Audi coupe made an unsafe lane change, caused a chain-reaction crash, and then fled the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash happened in the southbound lanes of I-270 south of MO-21 at about 4 p.m. on Thursday.

According to their initial reports, the Audi’s driver clipped a 2008 Honda Element as they were attempting to overtake it on the left. The impact sent the Element skidding into a 2024 GMC Terrain. Both those vehicles then collided with the concrete median on the left side of the highway, causing the GMC to overturn.

Emergency responders with the Mehlville Fire Protection District took both drivers to Mercy Hospital South with injuries described as moderate.

We do not know if police have located the Audi’s driver at this time.
