4 vehicles were involved in collision on I-55 North near Hwy Z, MSHP says

PEVELY, MO – Two women were hospitalized after a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 55 North in Pevely on Thursday.

Missouri State Highway Patrol said the incident unfolded before 7:30 a.m. when a 34-year-old woman, driving a 2019 Ford Edge SUV, first rear-ended a 2017 Honda Civic car.

The Honda driver, a 22-year-old woman, then crashed into the back of a 2021 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 51-year-old woman.

Moments later, a 40-year-old woman driving a 2025 Volkswagen Atlas collided with the side of a 2019 Ford Edge SUV.

The 22-year-old woman and the Ford Edge driver, a 34-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries, while the 51-year-old and 40-year-old women were uninjured.

Joachim Plattin Ambulance District transported the 22-year-old woman and the 34-year-old woman to Mercy Hospital – Jefferson for treatment.

MSHP said all female drivers wore seatbelts and were the sole occupants of their vehicles. All of them are Festus residents.
