Kia driver hits BMW on flashing yellow light, causing rollover

ST. LOUIS, MO – A 52-year-old man driving a 2024 Kia Carnival collided with a 2020 BMW 2281, leading both drivers and the BMW passenger to sustain injuries Wednesday.

The crash took place before 6:15 a.m. at the northbound MO 367 and eastbound I-270 connector, Missouri Highway Patrol said. Preliminary details show that the Kia driver had turned on a flashing yellow light when he struck the BMW driver, who had a green light. The BMW had hit the right side of the Kia, which caused the Kia to overturn.

Troopers said the BMW driver, a 20-year-old man from Florissant, was going south on MO 367, and the 52-year-old man from Baldwin, north on MO 367.

Upon arrival, Black Jack Fire & EMS rushed both drivers to Mercy Hospital. The 52-year-old man is recovering from moderate wounds, and the 20-year-old man is from serious lacerations.

Christian EMS also responded to the scene. Pandemics said the BMW passenger, an 18-year-old man, also from Florissant, was also sent to Mercy and left in serious condition.

Troopers have not confirmed any charges at this time.
