4 sent to hospital after collision on State Hwy U in NW St. Louis

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – Four people were injured as a result of a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on State Highway U in northwest St. Louis, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at the intersection with Interstate 70, prompting an emergency response at around 8:39 a.m.

Officials said a 32-year-old St. Louis woman was behind the wheel of a 2000 Toyota Camry heading northbound when she pulled into the path of a 2014 Toyota Camry being driven southbound by another 32-year-old woman, also of St. Louis.

The maneuver caused the 2014 Toyota Camry to hit the side of the 2000 Camry, which then hit a traffic barrier and a crosswalk sign before rolling over. The impact sent the 2014 Camry off the roadway’s east side, where it collided with a concrete barrier.

Both drivers and their passengers, a 26-year-old St. Louis man in the 2014 Camry and a 7-year-old St. Louis girl in the 2000 Camry, suffered minor injuries.

The occupants of the 2014 Camry were transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, along with the driver of the 2000 Camry, who was taken there after being initially transported to Saint Louis Children’s Hospital, where the child was sent.

The 2014 Camry and 2000 Camry sustained extensive and total damages, respectively.
