Collision occurred on I-44 exit ramp connecting to I-270

ST. LOUIS, MO – Five adults and three juveniles were injured in a rear-end crash that happened on the I-44 exit ramp connecting to I-270 in St. Louis on Friday.

Missouri State Highway Patrol said the incident unfolded before 11 a.m. when an 18-year-old woman from DeSoto crashed her 2010 Chevrolet Malibu into the back of a 2015 Buick Regal. The Buick was pushed forward and rear-ended a 2008 Lexus ES350.

The 18-year-old woman and her three Chevrolet passengers, a 17-year-old boy from De Soto, and a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl from Oakville, were injured.

The Buick driver, a 21-year-old man from Fenton, and his three passengers, a 19-year-old man and a 21-year-old man from St. Louis, and a 19-year-old man from Cadet, were also injured.

Fenton fire crews transported the 18-year-old woman, 17-year-old boy, the Buick driver, and all of his passengers to Mercy Hospital South, while the 12-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were taken via private conveyance to another hospital.

MSHP said all hospitalized individuals are recovering from minor injuries and said the Lexus driver, the sole occupant of his vehicle, was uninjured.

Authorities have not specified the contributing factors behind the collision or said whether they cited the 18-year-old woman. These details, along with other updates related to the crash, will be provided once we know more.
