Failure to yield was contributing factor, MSHP confirms

TROY, MO – A 70-year-old male driver failed to yield the right of way to another vehicle, which resulted in a three-vehicle crash that seriously injured two 59-year-old adults.

Missouri State Highway Patrol said the multi-vehicle collision occurred at 3 p.m. last Friday, Oct. 17, at the intersection of MO 47 and South Ridge Road. Preliminary details show that a 70-year-old man, who drove a 2014 Toyota Tundra, had failed to yield the right of way to a 2013 Nissan Sentra and crashed into it. The Nissan Sentra was pushed forward and collided with a 2024 GMC Yukon.

The 70-year-old man was traveling south on Ridge Road, the Nissan Sentra was traveling east on the highway, and the GMC was going north on Ridge Road when they collided, troopers confirmed.

The Nissan driver, a 59-year-old man, and the passenger with him, a 59-year-old woman, both from Foley, were left with serious injuries. Lincoln County ambulance personnel transported them to SSM Health – St. Joseph Hospital.

The 70-year-old man and the GMC driver, a 28-year-old woman, were both uninjured. Both are Troy residents.

Troopers did not say if they cited the 70-year-old man for failing to yield.
