Nissan car crashes into cable barrier on I-44, sending woman to hospital

EUREKA, MO – A 24-year-old woman local to Eureka was injured in a car collision that happened along Washington University Tyson Research Center on Thursday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred after midnight on Interstate 44 West, east of Antire Road. Preliminary details show that one vehicle merged directly in front of a 2024 Nissan Z car.

The Nissan driver, a 23-year-old man from Godfrey, Illinois, swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him and overcorrected. His car slid, causing it to leave the road and plow directly into a cable barrier.

The Nissan driver was uninjured, while his passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Eureka, sustained minor injuries. Eureka Fire Protection District transported her to Mercy Hospital, St. Louis.
