Car makes illegal U-turn, causing crash with moderate injuries

HIGH RIDGE, MO – A female motorcyclist sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle collision on MO 30 West Tuesday.

Missouri State Highway Patrol said the events unfolded after 5 p.m. when the driver of a 2006 Mazda Tribute made an illegal U-turn and collided with the female motorcyclist operating a 2002 Harley Davidson. The motorcyclist did her best to avoid a crash by steering to the right. However, she was unable to press her brakes on time and rear-ended the Mazda.

North Jefferson ambulance crews hurried to the scene and rushed the motorcyclist to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. First responders identified the biker as a 39-year-old woman from St. Clair.

The driver was identified as a 33-year-old woman from Moberly. She was spared from injuries. Troopers did not say if they cited her for making an illegal U-turn.
