Man dead, 2 others left injured after dump truck crash at Owensville home

GASCONADE COUNTY, MO – A dump truck traveled off Missouri 28 and crashed into an Owensville residence Tuesday morning, claiming one life and leaving two other people hurt, reports FOX 2 Now.

The fatal incident occurred on the 300 block of West Lincoln Avenue, at about 9:00 a.m.

A preliminary investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol shows the dump truck had veered off from MO-28 shortly before it hit two people inside of a nearby home.

One of the residents, described only as male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The other resident, a woman believed to be the decedent’s wife, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of facial lacerations and an evaluation.

The driver of the truck, who was left pinned in the vehicle as crews worked for 30 minutes to extricate him, was also taken to a local hospital.

Officials said fuel from the truck was contained, and by 1:45 p.m., the scene was cleared.

No charges have been announced, but an investigation by the the Missouri State Highway Patrol remains in progress. According to a family friend of the victims had lived in the residence since the 1960s. The incident marks the second time in two years that a vehicle had struck the home.
