ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – Two people were injured due to a multi-vehicle crash late Monday morning on Interstate 270 near Bridgeton, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The collision unfolded on the westbound lanes of I-270, east of I-70. It was first reported at about 11:06 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a 2011 Toyota Corolla, a 2013 Ford E-350, and a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado were all traveling westbound on I-270, with the first two vehicles in lane #2, and the third vehicle traveling in lane #3.
At one point, the Corolla improperly stopped in the roadway, obstructing lane #2, and the front-end of the Corolla hit the back of the Ford. The Corolla was then sent into lane #3, while the front of the Silverado hit its front end. The Corolla then traveled off the roadway’s left side before striking its rear on the concrete median wall. While the Corolla came to rest to the left of the roadway facing north, the Ford E-350 came to a stop in lane #2 facing west, while the Silverado came to a stop in lane #3 facing west.
Robertson Fire Protection District crews transported the drivers of the Corolla and the Silverado, a 75-year-old man and a 73-year-old man from Arnold and St. Louis, respectively, to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Officials indicated that both victims sustained injuries considered minor.
No pending charges have been reported.
