Fatal pedestrian accident happened at about 10:30 p.m. Friday

ST. LOUIS, MO – A man died late Friday night after being hit by several vehicles and a hit-and-run driver, KSDK reports.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police say the fatal pedestrian accident happened on Gravois Avenue at Potomac Street at about 10:30 p.m. on May 29.

They believe the man was crossing Gravois in its 3500 block and stopped on the center turn lane. He was then hit by an eastbound white vehicle which drove off without stopping. The pedestrian fell into the westbound lanes and was hit a second time by a black Toyota Corolla. That vehicle’s driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

KSDK further noted that Gravois Avenue is a frequent cite of traffic accidents. Twenty-two people died on the 5.7-mile roadway between 2000 and 2004, including eight pedestrians. More than 940 others suffered injuries.
