ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – A suspected impaired driver was arrested following a multi-vehicle collision early Monday in Florissant that killed one person, according to First Alert 4.

The fatal incident took place on Interstate 270 at North New Florissant Road, at about 2:00 a.m.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers said the suspect’s car had overturned after crashing it into an abandoned vehicle. At one point, the suspect’s passenger exited the rolled over vehicle and was hit by a third vehicle.

First responders pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.

The DWI suspect was arrested, and the driver of the third vehicle stayed behind at the scene and cooperated with an investigation.

The case is being handled by investigators with the Accident Reconstruction team.

At the time of First Alert 4’s report, only two travel lanes were open, but officials anticipated a 7:00 a.m. clearance time.
