Injured driver taken to Progress West with minor injuries

ST. CHARLES CO., MO – A 23-year-old Wetzville man caused a three-vehicle wreck on I-64 in O’Fallon late yesterday afternoon when he lost control of his vehicle while traveling too fast for conditions.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the crash happened in the westbound lanes of the highway past Route K at about 4:25 p.m. on Monday.

They say that 2019 GMC Sierra was speeding west when it started to hydroplane and then swerved across three lanes of traffic. The Sierra clipped a Ford F-150 and was then hit by a Mack garage truck.

The 39-year-old O’Fallon man driving the garbage truck was taken by ambulance to Progress West Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

No one else appears to have been injured, although the Sierra sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene.
