Taken to Mercy Hospital South after crash

IMPERIAL, MO – A teen girl is in the hospital following a head-on collision that happened on US-61 on Tuesday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 9:30 p.m. south of the highway’s intersection with Falcon Drive. They say a 17-year-old girl was driving a Chrysler 200 southbound when she lost control on wet pavement. Her vehicle slid across the center line and was struck by an oncoming Ford F-250.

Emergency responders with the Rock Township EMS District took the girl to Mercy Hospital South, where she is listed in serious condition.

The 69-year-old man driving the pickup was not hurt despite not having worn a seatbelt.

The collision totaled both vehicles.
