2 others injured in the fatal crash

PIKE CO., MO – A 17-year-old girl was killed and two adult men were injured in a two-vehicle crash that happened on US-54 near Pike 458 on Monday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 6:10 p.m. on May 4. They say a 22-year-old driver of a westbound 2007 PT Cruiser lost control of his vehicle and then overcorrected, causing it to skid laterally across the center line. It was then T-boned on its passenger side by an oncoming Cadillac XTS.

Emergency responders airlifted a 17-year-old girl who was a passenger in the PT Cruiser to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St, Louis, where she was pronounced dead.

The PT Cruiser’s driver was airlifted to University Hospital – Columbia with serious injuries. We do not know his current condition.

Pike County Ambulance took the 39-year-old driver of the XTS to Pike County Memorial Hospital. They say he suffered only minor injuries.
