A loose tire appears to be the contributing factor, officials say

ST. LOUIS, MO – One person was sent to the hospital after a truck crashed into Ackerman Toyota on Hampton Avenue off Interstate 44 West on Wednesday.

The incident unfolded around 8:30 a.m., FirstAlert4 said. It began when a tire came off a truck, causing the truck driver to lose control of his vehicle before crashing into another vehicle, going through the Ackerman fence, and plowing through the car dealership.

Fire crews said one person was hospitalized for minor injuries, but did not confirm whether it was the truck driver, the other motorist, or someone inside the building who was injured.

A good Samaritan and the dealership service manager, Scott Courtois, helped the driver out of his truck following the crash.

The impact of the collision caused several of the glass windows to break and also left a massive hole in the building.

Courtois anticipates repairs will cost tens to thousands of dollars.

Ackerman Toyota was open at the time of the crash.

The dealership did not announce any current closures, and according to Google, it appears to still be open.

St. Louis police and fire crews responded to the scene.
