19-year-old woman was standing outside her car when she was hit, MSHP says

WENTZVILLE, MO – A 19-year-old woman was left in serious condition as a result of a two-car crash that happened on U.S. 61 North on Wednesday.

The collision took place before 11:45 p.m. and involved two cars: a 2025 Ford Mustang and a 2010 Nissan Versa. Missouri State Highway Patrol’s preliminary details reveal that a 19-year-old woman was standing in front of her Ford Mustang after being involved in a previous crash. A 21-year-old woman, driving the Nissan Versa, was tailgating a vehicle in front of her and suddenly pressed on her brakes. She then tried to merge into a different lane to avoid hitting another vehicle. While trying to avoid a crash, she ended up slamming into the front of the Ford and hitting the Ford driver.

St. Charles County ambulance crews rushed to the scene and transported the 19-year-old woman, a Wentzville local, to Mercy Hospital St. Louis.

Both vehicles were totaled and removed from the accident site by Superior Towning.

Troopers did not say if they cited the 21-year-old woman for tailgating.
