Distracted driving was to blame in I-55 collision, MSHP says

ST. LOUIS, MO – A 62-year-old woman was seriously injured as a result of a rear-end crash that took place on Friday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident took place before 1:15 a.m. on Interstate 55 North, north of the U.S. 50. MSHP said a 26-year-old man driving a Ford Mustang failed to pay attention while driving and rear-ended a 2014 GMC Acadia driven by a 62-year-old woman.

The 62-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital South by Mehlville Fire Protection District.

The male driver was uninjured.

Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles and wore seatbelts.

MSHP did not say if they cited the driver.
